The 27 Ton Steel Tippler Wagons were built by British Railways to convey bulk materials like stone, ore and chalk. Having no doors, these wagons were unloaded by means of a rotary tippler. As their work with BR faded, either through displacement or replacement, many wagons found a new lease of life in private use. The National Coal Board took on several, including this example numbered 63, which has been decorated in the NCB’s striking blue and yellow colour scheme and will make a fine addition to any N scale collection.
