The Story
Built in Scotland during the late Victorian and early Edwardian eras, these small 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotives were mainly used as shunting engines in railway works yards around Glasgow, although they could be used for light passenger services as well.
Known as 'Pugs', it was not uncommon to see these diminutive locomotives operating with a small wagon that acted as a coal tender.
