The Story

Shelvoke and Drewry Freightlifter in bright yellow and red and registered 956 FJO, the lettering on the lower skirt of the model indicates that the vehicle operated out of Swindon.

The famous British Road Services crest is printed in full colour on the Dualdrive cab of the fork lift, which Shelvoke & Drewry introduced as a direct competitor to the American Hyster forklift. Its capacity of being able to lift between 12000 and 18000 lbs with a lift height of up to 29 feet made it a desirable vehicle for use with the Armed Forces as well as with railway companies. First produced in 1952, the Freightlifter went on until 1974, with one or two re-designs along the way. Our highly detailed model is a tribute to a great little workhorse.
