The Story
The residue of coke from heating coal was necessary to produce steel as a carbon component. A demand for coke for industrial use required frequent transport and specialist coke wagons had to be developed or converted. As the density of the coke is less than coal, ordinary coal wagons could not be used.
This Coke Hopper triple wagon pack contains three Stanton Ironworks liveried wagons. The hook couplings enable easier coupling of other rolling stock and locomotives on your layout.
